The Salone del Mobile in Milan was founded in 1961 on the initiative of a group of furniture makers with the aim of promoting the Italian furniture and design industry and over the years, it has become the international reference point for the sector.
In the 80s, in parallel with the Salone, the Fuori Salone was born, a spontaneous phenomenon of exhibitions and events spread throughout the city, organized by independent companies and designers outside the official exhibition spaces. In 1990, the magazine Interni codified and structured the Fuori Salone, contributing to its growth and circulation.
Today, the Fuori Salone is a global event involving different design districts in Milan. Every year, during Design Week, the design capital of the world is transformed into a stage for installations, exhibitions and events, attracting creatives, companies and visitors from all over the world.
